RECTO
Recto was created in Seoul in 2014. The name, meaning 'book cover' or 'the front of a piece of paper' in Korean, represents the debut of the brand's story. It delivers a formal and neutral impression, perfectly illustrating the aesthetics of its creations. The mastermind behind the label is Jiyoun Jung. A graduate in fashion design from Tongmyong University with a Master's degree from Hongik University (both based in South Korea), she launched Product Seoul in 2010, a store offering selected designer pieces. A winning strategy that raised the young woman's profile leading her to become a key influencer in the Korean fashion world. Quickly, she spotted a gap between what women are looking for and what was available in the womenswear market. Jiyoun Jung aimed to fill the void with her brand, notably exploring the invisible lines between multi-gender concepts.
A year after launching, Recto took part in the MODE Shanghai Fashion Trade Show in China, a fair focused on contemporary fashion. In 2016, the label won the Samsung Fashion Design Fund of the Samsung C&T Fashion Group which encourages new talent by offering professional and financial support. The little boost for the label prompted Recto's global conquest.
Its concept: Minimalist silhouettes with structured detailing and androgynous styling. These key features are maintained in the Spring-Summer 2020 collection which includes cowl neck tops, loose trousers and shoulder-revealing drape dresses. Beige, white, grey, black and light blue form a soft and refined palette, further enhanced with accessories such as vibrant yellow heels and a lilac bag in embossed crocodile leather, a colour exclusively available on Printemps.com. The casual and elegant style of Jiyoun Jung's designs are perfect for a summer escape and would look just as good in the city.
