FUSALP Unisex
Born in 1952 in the heart of the French Alps, Fusalp is driven by two tailors: Georges Ribolat and René Veyrat. Originally from Annecy, these visionaries had anticipated a new energy behind winter sports and saw an opportunity to utilize their sewing expertise. The iconic "Fuseau des Alpes" trousers were produced, also inspiring the brand's name. While the design duo can't really claim credit for inventing this model, they deserve praise for its technical prowess: a fitted cut enveloping the ski boot to prevent snow from getting in and reaching the feet, padded knees with elasticated inserts to make bending easier along with stretchy fabric providing extra comfort. Success soon followed and generations of skiers on peaks across the world donned the iconic Fuseau design. Among these snow sport enthusiasts were the Goitschel sisters, medallists at the 1964 Innsbruck Olympic Games, Jean-Claude Killy at the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Games, as well as Guy Périllat and Léo Lacroix at the 1966 Portillo Alpine World Ski Championships. The brand's blue, white and red logo became the emblem of skiing à la française.
In 2014, the Lacoste family acquired Fusalp and continued to market its chic sportswear in France and abroad. This new breath of fresh air was highlighted through a collaboration with the chic Parisian boutique Colette, unveiling a ready-to-wear line. While the design house's signature ski suits, down jackets and further key pieces remain in vogue, the label fits in stylish, urban wardrobes offering city jackets, dresses, slim-line sweaters and active wear. Mathilde Lacoste applies the same technical standards to these garments as she uses for ski gear. Features include optimal thermoregulation, water-resistance and breathability, along with welded seams, ensuring the high performance of these garments.
