With its punk-rock aesthetic, the unisex Ready-to-Wear brand Faith Connexion excels in the art of street-couture; a success it owes to the collective of young designers, stylists, graffiti artists and even musicians who took up the reins of the label when it was founded in 2004. This anarchic vision of style has indeed allowed the French design house to escape conventions and offer androgynous, unisex and, above all, timeless clothing. From summer to winter, biker jackets and oversized denim jackets are paired with sequinned skirts or flowing dresses, tulle is teamed with fishnets, and ripped raw denim sits next to clean lace. The labels' key classics include ripped jeans and original graphic t-shirts, as if they had just been freshly tagged with spray paint. Cultivating the art of surprise, Faith Connexion recently announced the appointment of its first Artistic Director, Nikola Vasari - a first in the brand's history. Trained at the Duperré School and the Institut Français de la Mode, this young fashion prodigy grew up in Croatia until the age of eight and then moved to Paris. The rest of his CV reads like a Who's Who. Fresh out of school, he joined the Balmain fashion house on an internship which led him on to work for Christian Dior. From there, he continued his journey moving on to Yves Saint Laurent, headed at the time by Stefano Pilati, before returning to Balmain as Head of Design from 2007 to 2011, under Christophe Decarnin. It's also rumoured that this designer had a large part to play in establishing the concepts for Faith Connexion. Heading up his own brand, NVDS, he previously worked as a senior consultant for Faith Connexion's Women's Ready-to-Wear collection. Although the brand now expresses itself with one voice, it continues to identify its DNA as being at the juncture between art, music and fashion, energised by the excitement of street culture.
