Expressing an Anglo-Saxon look with a Japanese perspective, Mihara Yasuhiro has been establishing his style since 1997. Founder of his eponymous brand, the Japanese designer specialised in men's Ready-to-Wear casual clothing injected with sporty accents. Originally from Tokyo, Mihara Yasuhiro graduated in Textile Design from Tama Art University. Initially more interested in art than in fashion (and a great admirer of Marcel Duchamp), he soon explored the possibility of creating arty objects that people can wear rather than simply admire. A forerunner in the sneaker revolution, he has been fusing fashion with sportswear since the '90s through a string of successful collaborations with Puma. These achievements gave his brand significant global exposure and in 1999 he launched his Menswear collection during Tokyo Fashion Week. In 2006, he presented his designs at Milan Fashion Week for the first time, before becoming a fixture at Paris Fashion Week the following year. A master of layering illusions, the designer created pieces that appear to have layers upon layers, mixing lengths and materials to achieve a unique silhouette. Bermuda shorts are paired with jogging bottoms, shirts feature striped patterns on one side and checks on the other, while cardigans are paired with bomber jackets, windbreakers and denim jackets.
Inspired by the '90s underground scene, Mihara Yasuhiro's Spring-Summer 2020 collection is based on a blend of deconstructed technical garments and asymmetric proportions. The collection also involves camouflage, printed in shades of grey and orange. The military-style motif adopts different personas, once again playing on a deconstruction theme with dual-patterned shirts, mismatched prints and hybrid pieces. A stunning way to celebrate individuality.> View more
