RHUDE Men
R H U D E: the new favourite label of American rappers and NBA players. Founded in 2015 by Rhuigi Villaseñor, its many cultural references make it unique in the luxury streetwear world. Born in the Philippines, the designer spent his childhood all over the world, from Hong Kong to Saudi Arabia and Thailand, before moving to the US at the age of eleven. His interest in fashion came from his seamstress mother, who taught him the basics of clothes making. After studying art history, Rhuigi Villaseñor interned under designer Shaun Samson, with whom he completed his apprenticeship. Unable to afford the clothes that he wanted to wear, the young Villaseñor created R H U D E. The name stems from a family tradition of choosing names starting with 'Rh', combined with his aspiration to rebel against the strict education he received. A modern and personal reflection on society, the brand's journey was strongly influenced by American iconography combined with nostalgic references to the founder's homeland. His bandana t-shirt propelled him to success when Kendrick Lamar wore it at the Grammy Awards. Snoop Dogg, Big Sean, Offset, Bella Hadid and many other celebrities also became drawn to R H U D E's pieces.
For his very first Paris Fashion Week show, Rhuigi Villaseñor takes inspiration from his trip to the Broadmoor Seven Falls of Colorado. The rocky mountain hike represents the obstacles encountered in life and looking within to find the strength to overcome them. His autobiographical Spring-Summer 2020 collection is a blend of distinct components coming together to form a cohesive look. Hooded sweatshirts with an eagle motif, t-shirts featuring a reworked version of the Marlboro logo inspired by motor sports, and there's no shortage of the signature Traxedo pants (a mix between a tracksuit and a tuxedo). The presence of trainers in the collection is also noteworthy, hinting at R H U D E'S first step into footwear. > View more
