Ambassador of typically Parisian effortless chic, Isabel Marant is not done making a name for herself. Born in 1967 to a German model mother and a French photographer father, Isabel Marant spends her childhood in Neuilly-sur-Seine and builds her identity around a cosmopolitan family background that includes her Antillean stepmother, which becomes one of her sources of inspiration. During her fashion studies at Studio Berçot, she meets Christophe Lemaire with whom she founds Aller Simple in 1984. A forward-thinking brand focused on upcycling, the profits allow her to finance her education. Once graduated, the young designer is hired as an intern for Michel Klein and then creates two collections for the brand Yorke&Cole. She then obtains a position as an assistant artistic director for Marc Ascoli, a role that leads her to work with big names such as Chloé, Martine Sitbon, or Yohji Yamamoto. In 1989, Isabel Marant goes independent by creating Twen, her brand dedicated to knitwear and jersey, which will become her eponymous house in 1994. Awarded the Best Designer of the Year Award in 1997, success is on the horizon, and the opening of her first store on rue de Charonne in Paris is the logical next step in her rise to fame. A trendy city dweller but never too polished, Isabel Marant perfectly embodies her target audience and tries on each of her pieces herself to ensure they fit seamlessly into her daily life.
