What is the connection between a Turkish make-up artist and the bodywork of cars? Airbrushing. It is precisely this technique that has earned Feride Uslu and her Uslu Airlines brand, great recognition in the world of cosmetics. A professional make-up artist in the fashion industry, this Turkish woman living in Berlin was inspired to start her own business while she was pregnant at the beginning of the 2000s. In 2003, she founded her label in partnership with German entrepreneur, Jan Mihm. Far from being a cosmetics company like any other, Uslu Airlines stands out for its unusual technique: airbrushing. Inspired by car bodywork painting, this small air gun applies make-up in an even and light way to enhance rather than camouflage features. Fun and original, this method quickly made an impression and put the brand on the map. Uslu Airlines is today renowned for its ultra-colourful nail polishes and lipsticks. Named after three-letter codes representing different airports around the world, they feature a distinctive selection of shades and finishes, creating a variety of effects. The brand is also known for its different collaborations including a vegan nail polish range with jewellery designer, Saskia Diez, an ultra-colourful range with designer, Bernard Willhelm, as well as luggage brand, Tumi and last but not least the sneakers brand, Vans. The best part? Some of these partnerships are entirely exclusive, such as the ACE Hotel in New York, which is only available on the hotel's website. And the lipsticks are not to be missed! Like the nail polish collection, they come in countless colours and finishes, perfect for creating your own unique look.
