HOUBIGANT PARIS
Rare is the brand with a heritage that goes back over two centuries. This is the case of the French perfumer Houbigant, created in 1775. Its founder Jean-François Houbigant opened a boutique on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris that he named "À la Corbeille de Fleurs" or "The Basket of Flowers". There he created and sold his perfumes, powders and exfoliators, as well as baskets for marriages and baptisms. The store quickly won over royal families and European nobility like Queen Marie-Antoinette. In 1838, Houbigant became the official perfumer of Her Majesty Queen Victoria of Englad and also Czar Alexander the Third. Many other famous people joined the list the Houbigant clients: Napoleon the Third, the king and queen of Holland, the princess of Battenberg, Guy de Maupassant, the Rothschilds, and Tolstoy, to name a few. In 1880, Paul Parquet took over the company and two years later created the fragrance Fougère Royale which pioneered a new category of masculine fragrances, which is popular today. In 1912, the perfumer Bienaimé took over, releasing Quelques Fleurs, a best-selling scent with a floral bouquet that earned him a reputation. Since 1980, it has been the Perris family that has carried the Houbigant legacy. Just as 200 years ago, the perfumes are still composed in Grasse. All of the brand's iconic products have been revived by one of the most famous "noses" of the moment: Jean-Claude Ellena. Today's luxurious Houbigant fragrances link past and present, rich with know-how that has been perfected over centuries, and the fragrances evoke strong emotions through refined ingredients and harmonious blends.
