The new favorite brand of American rappers and NBA players is called RHUDE. Founded in 2015 by Rhuigi Villaseñor, it stands out in the luxury streetwear universe with its multiple cultural references. Born in the Philippines, the designer spent his childhood in several places around the world, from Hong Kong to Saudi Arabia and Thailand before settling in the United States at the age of eleven. His interest in fashion developed alongside his mother, a seamstress, who taught him the basics of garment construction. After studying art history, Rhuigi Villaseñor interned with designer Shaun Samson, with whom he completed his training. Unable to afford the clothes he wanted to wear, the young talent created R H U D E, which derives its name from a family tradition of choosing names starting with R and H, as well as Rhuigi Villaseñor's desire to rebel against the strict education he received. A modern and personal sociological reflection, the brand's journey is heavily influenced by nostalgic references to its founder's homeland, mixed with American iconographies. His bandana-patterned t-shirt opened the doors to success when worn by Kendrick Lamar at the Grammy Awards. Snoop Dog, Big Sean, Offset, Bella Hadid, and a multitude of other celebrities will also succumb to R H U D E pieces. For this Spring-Summer 2021 season, the collection titled 'The Audacity to Dream' is tinged with utopia and humor and features iconic models from the brand. It consists of pieces punctuated with quirky messages, such as the t-shirt characterized by the colorful illustration of two skeletons lounging on deck chairs surrounded by cacti. A casual and unisex wardrobe sprinkled with whimsy for all those seeking a daily life filled with lightness.
