MALIN+GOETZ

Partners in business as in life, Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz are the epitome of a power couple. The proof? Brainchild MALIN+GOETZ, their skincare brand founded in New York in 2004. Having previously worked as a cosmetics buyer for Barney's New York following his time at Saks Fifth Avenue, it would be an understatement to say that the domain was Matthew's forte; he had already ascended to head of international sales at Kiehl's before accepting an offer from Prada to develop their beauty line. On the other hand, Andrew was head of marketing at Vitra, a family design firm based in Switzerland, for whom he'd worked for over a decade. Acting as the fusion of their respective passions, MALIN+GOETZ incarnates the values and sense of aesthetics that we find in the products' composition, packaging, and even in the organization of the stores themselves, which were conceived by architects and industrial designers whom Andrew met at Vitra. The minimalist atmosphere evokes traditional apothecaries, where neighborhood locals would go for their day-to-day remedies. MALIN+GOETZ's packaging and clean white labeling also holds echoes of pharmacies of yore. Matthew Malin quickly identified gaps in the skincare market and decided to orient MALIN+GOETZ to sensitive complexions; indeed, eczema, dermatitis, and rosacea are no match for this brand. The products center simplicity, safety, and efficiency, attainable thanks to their focus on gentle natural ingredients and advanced dermatological technologies. Eucalyptus, bergamot, peppermint, and grapefruit are some of the elements used in the different lines. Both luxurious and ethical, MALIN+GOETZ treatments are locally-made in order to reduce the company's carbon footprint, and they're never tested on animals.
