Le vétiver est une plante tropicale
sauvage, originaire d'Inde et
d'Indonésie.
La particularité de cette espèce est
son système racinaire; une grande
masse de racines qui poussant
verticalement jusqu'à 5 mètres de
profondeur. Il est extrait par
distillation à la vapeur des racines,
qui sont lavées, coupées et séchées
au soleil. Le parfum du Vétiver de
Java a des notes boisé, sec, terreux,
fumé, presque brûlé, avec des
nuances florales, vertes et épicées.
