Scandinavia is certainly fueling of talent. Although Ganni, Saks Potts and Baum und Pferdgarten have already earned their stripes in the rest of Europe, there are still a few Nordic gems left to discover. Among them: All Blues. Founded in 2010 by two friends, Fredrik Nathorst and Jacob Skragge, the label is slowly but surely building a loyal client base. Born and bred in Stockholm, the duo met in high school and were only 20 years old when they launched their brand. Wishing to find jewellery for men that appealed to them, they took it upon themselves to create it, without any prior training. They named the brand All Blues after the music they listened to while they were creating the label. Installed on the table of Jacob Skragge's mother's kitchen (from whom they borrowed the $2000 that they needed to get the business off the ground), the brand aims to be simple yet daring, with pieces designed for everyday life.
The label made slow progress until 2015, when Jonny Johansson, creative director of Acne Studios, proposed a collaboration. By this time, Fredrik Nathorst was studying graphic design while Jacob Skragge was at business school. The collection was a success, and All Blues began to make a name for itself.
The label stands out thanks to the attention put into designing the jewellery (handmade in a silversmith located just outside of Stockholm, which has been passed down from father to son for three generations), and its creative process. Rather than following the official calendar, All Blues offers an annual collection, when the designers are ready, as well as several smaller ‘satellite' lines released throughout the year. Inspired by everyday life (the Ruined Omelette line was indeed thought up after a missed breakfast), the label's creations are designed in an original way: objects are scanned and then converted into a graphic design, before being 3D-printed to create a custom-made mould. A unique way to combine artistry and modernity.
