To get the most out of your candle, allow us to guide you through some tips to prolong its life.
Burn your candle for at least four hours the first time you use it, i.e. until the entire surface has become liquid. This will prevent tunnelling and will ensure that it burns more evenly in the future. However, we advise that you never let your candle burn continuously for more than four hours.
Before each use, make sure that the height of the wick is no longer than 5 mm (0.2 in). Remember to cut it regularly to avoid smoke being produced from too large a flame.
At the end of each use and before the wax cools down, reposition the wick vertically in the middle of the pot. Be sure not to burn yourself. If a ball of charcoal forms at the end of the wick, we recommend that you remove it with a tissue after the wax has cooled or cut it off, ensuring that it does not fall into the wax.
When burning, make sure that the candle is not placed in a draught so that the wick does not move and cause the candle to burn unevenly.
Once your candle has been used up, let it cool down before thinking of a new use for the jar. Remove the solid wax residue. Be sure not to get the jar too wet if you wish to keep the label. These glass jars can be used as candle holders, drinking glasses, small vases, decorative jars, and for any other purpose you can imagine!
