SALOMON
When George Salomon founded his ski edge business in 1947, he would never have imagined that 70 years later, it would become one of the biggest names in streetwear. Specialising in sports shoes, ski wear and technical clothing, since 2014 the label diversified into fashion trainers. We owe this change of direction to The Broken Arm. A few years ago, the Parisian concept store stocked the Speedcross, a shoe model already present at Salomon for some time. As a follow-up, Salomon designed an exclusive line for The Broken Arm, called the Black Edition collection, including a relaunch of certain S/Lab models (dedicated to performance running) in all-black colourways. It was a roaring success and fashion designers saw the great potential of the Annecy-based brand. Enter Boris Bidjan Saberi, the Barcelona-based German designer who had the idea to dress his models in Salomon footwear for his next fashion show. Salomon accepted depicting its first partnership with a fashion designer.
Since then, the label was a regular on the runway. Worn by models in several different shows, it became a leading streetwear brand. Lightweight and now available in a variety of colours and materials, Salomon's running shoes attract those who need to run several miles every day yet still looking to be stylish.
The label is expanding into new markets while being aware of the negative impact that fashion has on the planet. Working to help protect the environment for a few years now, it is raising environmental awareness among its customers while developing "cleaner" products. In its R&D centre in Annecy, Salomon has recently unveiled a trainer that can be recycled into a ski boot. Bit by bit, they're closing the loop. > View more
