Aquazzura, meaning "blue water"' in Italian, evokes sun-drenched coastal landscapes. This modern concept of la Dolce Vita was dreamed up by founder Edgardo Osorio. Born in Columbia, he spent his youth travelling between Miami and London, where he studied at the London College of Fashion followed by Central Saint Martins. Yet, it was in the beautiful city of Florence that he decided to settle and take his first steps into the shoe industry, working for prestigious houses such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Roberto Cavalli. In 2011, at the tender age of 25 with ten years' experience already under his belt, the young designer launched his own brand, Aquazzura. Instead of introducing a revamp of the popular shoe design of the time, Edgardo Osorio wanted to return to elegance marked by simplicity and exquisitely-crafted design based on comfort. In fact, comfort is a cornerstone of Aquazzura production, as the designer decided to launch his brand in time for wedding season, where his friends could test his creations by dancing the night away. In order to offer women the flexibility of running around to appointments throughout the day and then dancing the night away without having to change shoes, he surrounded himself with a team of experts. Together they developed an innovative design structure that aims to distribute body weight over the entire sole, and also contains a padded memory foam insert, ensuring an easy-to-wear, lighter fit. Aquazzura's essence is also founded on a glamorous, sophisticated and sensual world that draws inspiration from photography, Visconti and James Bond films, and Italy in the 1950s-1960s. Filled with positive energy and a sunny allure, his creations are all completed with a golden pineapple insignia, located on the underside of the sole, which, according to the designer, acts as a lucky charm and symbol of inclusiveness.
