Alexander McQueen began his sewing apprenticeship as a teenager at the renowned Savile Row tailors. A solid foundation that allowed him to shine from the start with his cutting & construction. It was only natural that he would end up expanding into men's ready-to-wear, after solidifying his expertise through beautiful and thought-provoking women's designs. In 1992, the English native graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins School in London. His end-of-year collection was a success and caught the eye of Isabella Blow, a fashion editor who purchased all his creations and became his muse and patron at the same time. Unconventional, Lee Alexander McQueen quickly made a name for himself in the British fashion world thanks to his highly original designs & exceptional technical skills, leading to even bigger opportunities. However, it was not until 2005 that the designer launched his Alexander McQueen's collection for men. It showcases sharp tailoring (most notably the suit) punctuated with unexpected details inspired by Saville Row or Victoriana, contrasting elements and colorful prints. A hit of the British house since their debut in 2016, the Oversized sneaker is among the cool and modern accessories also featured. Reimagined each season, this shoe known for its normative white rubber sole is constantly updated in new variations with more contemporary standards, making it an absolute must-have. On February 11, 2010, the designer took his own life at the age of 41. His right-hand woman, Sarah Burton, who also trained at Central Saint Martins School and a member of his team since 1996, succeeded him.
