LES BECKHAM: FASHION POWER COUPLE SINCE 1997

With Beckham, Netflix explores a part of the life of one of the most iconic football players of the early 2000s: David Beckham. And the legendary British player clearly did not have the most traditional career... 

This is what the audience has the pleasure of discovering during the 4 episodes contained in this docu-series. From his beginnings alongside Manchester United, one of the most popular and followed clubs in the world, to his evolution at Real Madrid and his time at Paris Saint Germain, David Beckham's entire football career is examined in detail; but not only that. Talking about the athlete and the man without mentioning the one who has shared his life from the start is impossible. David's words are therefore supported or nuanced by his wife Victoria Beckham with whom he has had Brooklyn Beckham, Cruz Beckham, Romeo Beckham, and Harper Beckham.  

1997. For nearly 5 years, young David Beckham has been the star of Manchester United. The whole of England adores him, as do football fans... And for good reason: an angelic face, a tactical game that hits the mark, humble origins, and a level-headed attitude, the mix is perfectly balanced for him to quickly become a popular figure. But as Beckham gains popularity in the hearts of the British, other personalities compete with the one nicknamed "Beck". There are 5 of them and they make all the English teens scream with their song Wannabe: the Spice Girls are, at that precise moment, idols for the youth. With their proclaimed girl power, the girl band experiences a meteoric success and sees their career expand internationally.  

It is then that the encounter between David Beckham and Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, occurs: young, beautiful, adored, and at the height of their fame, they quickly become the most fashionable couple of the moment.  

Nicknamed Posh Spice (the snob of the group) for her chic, glamourous look, Victoria definitely brought her fashion touch to the couple. From then on, the appearances of this footballer-pop star couple were noticed and talked about. Let's take a look.

On the blue carpet of the 1999 Versace Gala, David and Victoria Beckham were in head-to-toe, all black leather. Like Neo and Trinity, the heroes of the film The Matrix, they made a rock n' roll and futurist impression! 

Live from the Mostra de Venise in 2006, behind the seemingly relaxed looks was surgical precision down to the smallest details. An unbuttoned shirt, open jacket, loose trousers and a newsboy-style cap for David, while Victoria dressed herself in a layered dress for a touch of glamour!

While in 17 years, fashion has definitely changed, one thing has stayed the same: The Beckhams always have it under control. While filming the Netflix docu-series, they went for a relaxed, yet chic look with hippy accents. Flare, high waisted trousers and a heather grey jumper for Victoria, while David went for a khaki shirt, unbuttoned just the right amount. A look of careful relaxation with a touch of hippy chic.

More stylish than ever, in 2023, the Beckhams were spotted on the streets of Paris in a perfect autumnal palette. What made it work? The pairing of brown and aubergine on David, as well as the green and lilac worn by Victoria. Successfully juggling colours as a duo, now that's a real fashion feat.

To present the Netflix series Beckham, the couple, seemingly untouched by time, appears more glamourous than ever. Exuding class, Victoria wears a white suit with a double-breasted jacket, while David sports a navy-blue suit.
