At just 30 years old, Benjamin Benmoyal heads his eponymous brand founded in 2020. After a career as a paratrooper commando, the Franco-Israeli takes a completely different path to enter the fashion world, starting with training at the prestigious Central Saint-Martins in London. During his 6 years of study, he decided to follow a path hitherto unexplored: creating a fabric from VHS magnetic tapes. He then took two sabbaticals to experiment with this new material and made his debut in prestigious haute couture houses. After a stint at McQueen and Hermès, the young couturier decided to launch his own brand and built an entire collection based on magnetic tapes, which he presented at Paris Fashion Week in March 2021. Explosive colors, futuristic designs, extravagant volumes, and asymmetrical cuts: Benmoyal's universe is tinged with poetry and fantasy. Born to a Moroccan father and an Egyptian mother, the stylist also draws inspiration from his parents' origins, largely inspired by traditional Maghrebi attire like the haïk (a women's garment consisting of a long rectangular cloth covering the entire body, wrapped and then held at the waist by a belt). His signature piece? A long "jellyfish" dress crafted with over 4000 cotton threads around the silhouette. A wardrobe that appeals to both influential figures in the fashion world and the general public. Between philosophy and environmental commitment, the brand reflects a nostalgic generation, in full questioning, definitively turned towards the future. His visionary spirit and overflowing creativity make Benjamin Benmoyal an artist to watch very closely.
