Established in south-west France in 1270, the Frapin family is renowned for its wines and cognacs of exquisite taste and impeccable quality. In 2004, the company began specialising in the production of fragrances, offering collections inspired by its history and terroir. Designed by Camille Chemardin, the Checkmate Eau de parfum is a nod to the countless chess games played between Henri Frapin and his son. Henri Frapin enjoys relaxing on these spring Sundays in the garden facing the property, built in 1702 and located above the production site. He gazes at this region of woods, rivers, and pastures where he was born and which runs in his blood. He considers the treasure represented by this nectar that the family has been producing since 1889. His favorite moment is when his son joins him around 11 o'clock, when the sun's rays warm up this forest promontory above Segonzac. The chessboard is ready. His son sits down and resumes, without a word, this metaphorical battle, the union with his father in the pleasures of the game. The spring breeze brings along the refreshing scents of the surrounding groves. The sun warms the citrus fruits ripening in the terracotta pot on the table, while the irises and heliotropes lining the path to the porch shed their dew and open up to fill the air with their fragrances. Henri serves his son his traditional cardamom tea, a spice sharing its origins with this age-old game.
