At a time when fashion has been called upon to be more inclusive, many new designers are emerging and gaining recognition for their innovative and meaningful concepts. Ester Manas is one of them. Graduating from the prestigious La Cambre school of fashion and spotted at the Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival in 2018 with her Big Again collection (featuring pieces available in sizes ranging from 34 to 50), the young designer is set on breaking all the rules. Wave goodbye to traditional size and measurement guides: her intelligently designed pieces can adapt to any body type. Aided in this endeavour by her long-time accomplice, Balthazar Delepierre, she can boast that one size fits all thanks to clever features such as in-built fastening systems, laces and precision cuts. Each of the brand's pieces is carefully thought out to suit all shapes. Skirts include several buttons sewn at the waist, dress pleats and folds can be adjusted to suit the individual, easily wearable tops come in stretch fabrics. The decidedly inclusive fashion has the added advantage of being sustainable thanks to two important points. Firstly, the modular aspect of the garment enables women to continue wearing the piece throughout their lives, even as their bodies change. While the one-size concept means that there is less waste during the production process. The Ester Manas label is as committed to people as it is to the planet. The entire collection is produced by workers based in Brussels as part of a back-to-work integration project and the woollen fabrics are made using recycled waste in a factory in Tarn, France. The young trailblazer is certainly present on all fronts.> View more
