Founded by the couple Thierry and Amélie Gillier, the ready-to-wear brand Zadig & Voltaire aims to be rebellious and innovative, offering pieces made from noble materials and with an offbeat design. Taking its name from Voltaire's novel, Zadig or the destiny, where the main character is characterized by his exaggerated optimism, the brand is now synonymous with cool and relaxed luxury. While the first collection offered an exclusively women's wardrobe and primarily targeted Parisians, the brand quickly opened up internationally and has offered a men's collection since 2004 and a children's collection since 2006. At the head of the Artistic Direction, Swedish model Cécilia Bönström has also created a complete line of accessories that includes watches, bags, shoes, and branded perfumes. Over time, Zadig & Voltaire has refined a chic rock'n'roll image thanks to its iconic skull motif, but also through its numerous collaborations with personalities such as models Kate Moss, Eva Herzigova, Hailey Baldwin, and Bella Hadid. Zadig & Voltaire also draws a large part of its inspiration from music to design its pieces, as evidenced by the names Elvis (Presley), Mick (Jagger), and Justin (Bieber) found on its cashmere sweaters.
