Le mimosa apparait en Provence au milieu du 19ème siècle. Les Anglais, après l'avoir découvert dans l'Hyde Park de Londres, demandèrent de retrouver l'arbre sur la côte d'azur où ils allaient passer l'hiver. La demande fut si forte que l'on planta des mimosas dans le Tanneron.
Mimosa Tanneron est une ode à la tendresse, à la douceur, aux premiers émois amoureux.
