Floral Motifs Bloom In This Year's Spring Collections

With the days lengthening and Printemps.com's favorite season coming into full swing, floral motifs are coming out of hibernation to brighten up a myriad of pieces, bursting with sunny colors.

As a new cycle begins and nature prospers once again, we're reminded that Spring is synonymous with rebirth — a time of year charged with symbolism to which today's creators are inevitably sensitive. While the world around us flourishes with long-dormant plants and flowers, it's only to be expected that their forms and patterns would constitute a source of sartorial inspiration. To reflect the return of gorgeous weather, a number of pieces from the Spring-Summer 2021 collections currently available at Printemps.com are derived from natural elements. Such is the case at Chloé, where long and fluid dresses in cheerful prints evoke the bohemian aesthetic so cherished by the celebrated label.

Richard Quinn, a young British designer, is also no stranger to summery motifs, as evidencedshown by this trench covered in a multitude of opulent and saturated flowers. Paired with one of Marni's shirtsblouses, a Liberty print skirt from Tibi , or along with a long jacket from Boramy Viguier, a Moschino bathing suit, and these hoops from Goossens, flowers bring to mind the famous hippies, for whom they were a crowning symbol.

Especially given the current context, a little bit of lightheartedness never goes astray. What's more, the revival of floral prints — whose resurgence is nearly as reliable as that of our warmer seasons — are also being accompanied by commitments that favor the protection of the environment, seen at labels like Nanushka and Rejina Pyo. Their vivid motifs are rendered in cupro or organic cotton, highly eco-friendly materials. It's a celebration of nature, in form as much as function.
