HAVAIANAS
Founded in 1962 in Brazil, Havaianas quickly conquered the hearts of customers around the world with its celebrated thongs. Inspired by Zori, the traditional Japanese sandals made of fabric straps and woven rice straw soles, Havaianas are made of durable, supple rubber, with soles featuring a subtle rice pattern, recalling their origins. Originally destined for Brazilian workers, Havaianas started as simple, well-priced shoes, available only in blue and white. In 1969, a production error led to pairs in green which were an instant success with customers. This encouraged the brand to widen their range of colours, offering a palette that included yellow, brown and black. In 1998, for the World Cup, Havaianas launched Havaianas Brazil, a model with a little Brazilian flag on the strap, which became a bestseller. Today, the brand continues to innovate, releasing new models like the slim, the sandal and the espadrille, and collaborating with brands like Céline, Rotate and Paul Smith. With over 250 million pairs sold each year in over 100 countries, Havaianas have become essentials for a casual look, whether on the beach or in the city. The brand embodies a sunny, carefree style, symbolising freedom, joy and fun.
