Launched in February 2014, the brand Manu Atelier instantly became a key player in the accessory world. Established in Turkey from the creative genius of sisters Beste and Merve Manastir, their signature pieces combine original designs and cutting-edge artistry. And it isn't going unnoticed. Backed by influencers since the beginning, the label is making a name for itself thanks to the Pristine: a compact yet structured bag with pleated corners and a boxy shape, a true testament to the leather-making skills passed down from generation to generation. After all, Manu Atelier is a family business.
The sisters' father, Adnan Manastir, worked as a leather artisan from 1961, and they grew up spending time in his atelier. Surrounded by the smell of tanned leather, they gathered scrap materials to create mini bags. After completing their studies and gaining some experience with accessory designers, Beste and Merve Manastir founded Manu Atelier. Their aim was to showcase their father's talent as well as the Turkish leather industry. Taken from both the Latin word manu meaning ‘hand', and ‘manufacture,' the brand's name reflects their ethos: producing locally, using local materials and artisans. Their success flourished; after their signature Pristine bag came the Demi, with a doctor-bag structure, the soft leather Cylinder duffle, the round and rigid London, and the Tetra, with square lines adding a masculine touch to any outfit. And why stop there? In Autumn 2019, Manu Atelier expanded its business into shoes. For Spring-Summer 2020, the creative duo designs matching jumpsuits as their bestsellers as well as mini bags, with intricate & original finishing touches. Quite an undertaking.> View more
