Although they are not often compared, the French arts of perfumery and cuisine are actually extremely comparable. And these are exactly the two favorite fields of Gérald Ghislain, the founder of the house Histoires de parfums. It is indeed in a kitchen that this passionate jack-of-all-trades made his debut. A student at the hotel school in Toulouse from the age of 13, he learned the trade of a cook. But, at the dawn of his 22 years, he realizes that his passion for perfume is beginning to surpass his love for cooking. After training at ISIPCA, he founded his brand, Histoires de Parfums, in 2000. The concept is simple: inspired by a visit to the perfumery in Grasse, he came up with the idea of creating a very personal library. Historical figures, poems, pieces of music, all named after their year of birth or conception. This new kind of encyclopedia that tells stories without any words brings together Casanova, George Sand, the Marquis de Sade, as well as Mata Hari and Mona Lisa, and gives a prominent place to art in general. Inspired by the painting "The Treachery of Images" by René Magritte, the collection "This is not a blue bottle" plays on perceptions and puts scents on great concepts such as Yin and Yang, fire, or light. Another source of inspiration? The rose, white, and yellow golds, which also have their own scent. And finally, a self-portrait of the creator full of self-mockery, presented En Aparté, with Irrévérent, Outrecuidant, and Prolixe. Now it's your turn to write your own story.
