Established in 1965 in Paris' Faubourg Saint-Honoré neighborhood at the behest of Sicilian couturier Loris Azzaro, the eponymous brand has crafted a signature style that's at once elegant and bold. How could we forget, for example, the dress haltered by three wooden rings that today is known as one of the house's most iconic pieces. The silhouettes proposed distinguished themselves from those of the designer's contemporaries thanks to their novelty and glints of audacity. That same audacity would become known worldwide on December 16, 1968, when Cheryl Tiegs appeared on the cover of Elle magazine sporting an Azzaro dress. Since then, Azzaro has been adorning the most beautiful women in the world, including 70s stars like Brigitte Bardot, Romy Schneider, Dalida, and Claudia Cardinale. In 1975, the label launched its first perfume, Azzaro Couture, in a bottle reminiscent of Dali's work. It would be the first in a long line of heady elixirs and equally-thoughtful packaging. In 1988 the couturier's talent would be recognized by French president François Mitterrand, naming Azzaro to the Legion of Honor. Four years later, the brand launched a masculine ready-to-wear collection, featuring refined pieces that were ideal for gentlemen invested in timeless style. Following Loris Azzaro's death in 2003, stylist Vanessa Seward took up the reins at the fashion house after having worked at Chanel, Tom Ford, and Saint-Laurent. Since February 2020, Belgian stylist Olivier Theykens has been at the head of Artistic Direction. With previous experience at Rochas, Nina Ricci, and Theory, at Azzaro the young creator has embarked upon an exhilarating collaboration suffused with the breeze of a new intergenerational modernity. Known for his eye for androgyny, Theykens takes it as a point of honor to stay true to the identity of the house's founding era, all while adding his own personal touch -- a glimmer of the unexpected that shines through his creations. His collections brim with jacquard-print dresses, embroidery and platinum ornamentation, and sumptuous fabrics like velvet, silk, and lurex. Unique pieces with an unforgettable heritage.> View more
