Working in a family unit can be complicated, but it just might be the key to success. That's certainly true for Chloé and Parris Gordon, the sister team behind Beaufille. Having both studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, the Canadian designers each had their own speciality. Chloé worked with ready-to-wear while Parris designs jewellery. Resting on a strong bond, they naturally developed since childhood, the sisters launched their first brand, Chloé Comme Parris, after having graduated in 2009. Four years later, after gaining some experience and wishing to better reposition the label and truly find its direction, they renamed it Beaufille. Their style is a dual combination of each sister's vision. Reworked feminine pieces with a hint of masculinity, precious jewellery that's never girly, opposites that attract and blend to create a new harmony. The result is a dreamy and balanced minimalism where each designer's personality shines. While they may have their own distinct interests, they designed together, remaining open and collaborating closely was always essential.
And it worked. First gaining the spotlight during Toronto Fashion Week, Beaufille rose to the top of the international fashion scene while presenting in New York. Awarded two CAFA Awards by their peers (the 2015 Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent for accessories and the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 2017), the sisters were backed by the biggest clients, including Michelle Obama, who wore their Branch earrings during a TV appearance in January 2018, and fashion consultant Yasmin Sewell, as well as a handful of leading influencers. A glorious debut.
