Red carpet stars, adored by celebrities and loved by street style enthusiasts, Stuart Weitzman shoes skillfully combine design and comfort. But if the American designer's name is on everyone's lips today, it was under his father's that he made his debut. In the 60s, Seymour Weitzman indeed launched Seymour Shoes, a family shoe manufacturing business where young Stuart took his first steps. But it wasn't until 1986 and quite a few twists and turns that the designer put his name above the door. Following his father's death in 1965, the young designer took over the business with his brother Warren. A few years later, he began working with a Spanish brand, whose factory he bought in 1986, thereby creating his eponymous label. In the 2000s, he became known to the general public thanks to some well-chosen actions. In 2002, for example, he designed a pair of shoes adorned with diamonds worth one million dollars. Worn on the red carpet at the Oscars by Laura Harring, star of David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive", the shoes allowed the brand to make headlines. Stuart Weitzman also collaborates with several celebrities such as Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Taylor Swift, for whom he designs stage shoes. Another strong point of the brand is its advertising campaigns. Featuring Gisele Bündchen caught in a dancing fever, a nude Gigi Hadid, or principal dancer Misty Copeland, the brand's photos and videos quickly go viral. Following Stuart Weitzman's departure in 2018, Puerto Rican designer Edmundo Castillo took the helm. Trained at the Altos de Chavon School of Design (Dominican Republic), the designer made his debut at Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Sergio Rossi, Tod's, and Castaner before founding his eponymous label in 2010. A rich career that notably earned him the Perry Ellis Award for Best Emerging Accessories Designer at the 2001 CFDA Awards. Handcrafted in Alicante (Spain), each pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes requires over a hundred operations. This excellence in craftsmanship and special attention make the brand's pumps, boots, over-the-knee boots, and heeled shoes exceptional pieces.
