When all his friends dreamed of becoming footballers, Mossi Traoré willingly traded the ball for a needle and thread. Born to Malian parents, the future designer grew up in a neighborhood in Villiers-sur-Marne and discovered a passion for fashion after seeing an exhibition dedicated to the creations of Yohji Yamamoto. His clothing choices, which stood out from the codes of his suburb, became a means of expression and a way to assert his personality. In 2005, he enrolled at Mod'Art International in Paris and pursued training as a pattern maker while becoming head of a department at Giorgio Armani to finance his studies. A learning experience he put into practice by working with an Indian seamstress and then an African manufacturer. However, it was during his internship at the Opéra Garnier that he met Didier Grumbach, president of the Fédération Française de la Couture, who would give him the necessary boost to launch his eponymous brand. MOSSI is an ethical ready-to-wear label centered around the desire to enhance women, telling their strength. Poetic and refined, the collections evoke the rigor and aesthetics of haute couture and reveal pieces with volumes and textures worthy of architectural work. Inspired by his travels in Africa, India, and Italy, Japanese manga, and contemporary art, Mossi Traoré creates designs defined by artisanal know-how, draping, and pleating. In 2015, the young entrepreneur founded the school 'Les Ateliers Alix' to offer young generations the chance to train in fashion professions. A project that complements that of his association 'Les Ateliers Parisiens' aimed at helping migrants, women, and school dropouts to integrate into the professional world. Winner of the 2020 Pierre Bergé prize from ANDAM rewarding young fashion creators, Mossi Traoré stands out with his brand driven by a social and solidarity approach, now to be discovered on Printemps.com.
