Scandinavian style is known the world over for its minimalism and black-and-white monochrome — and yet, none of that has kept Denmark's Henrik Vibskov from bringing us high-octane colors and eccentric designs via his eponymous label. This multi-talented artist — he's also an interior designer and a musician — has long taken inspiration from his intersecting passions; from art, to dance, to theater. After studying at London's Central Saint Martins, partially in order to impress a girl he liked, he launched his brand shortly after graduating in 2001. Since then the creator has presented over twenty collections, often in the form of runway shows that work much like art happenings, making each introduction an event in and of itself. Henrik Vibskov's pieces are always a bit left-of-center, often touting vibrant (and sometimes even controversial) prints, like the Piggy series and its pig-printed scarves. Like it or not, the house consistently churns out singular ideas that have been known to attract the industry's praise and approbation in equal parts. In 2007, Vibskov would take home a Danish Design Council Award, along with the Söderberg and the Royal Thordval Bindesbøl medal. In 2012, he was nominated to the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine Française. Nothing can stop Henrik Vibskov, whether he's giving conferences in London, Madrid, or Anvers, teaching at the Danish Design School, or launching the P:I:G Foundation in 2014 to encourage cultural and creative education.> View more
