At a time where environmental concerns are becoming increasingly important in everyday life, fashion is going eco-friendly. While some big names have already started to reduce their carbon footprint and use recycled materials, many fashion newcomers are also following the same path. Take Entoure, the upcycled belt company that was launched in 2018. Founded by Amélie Kaszuba, this new French label was created in the suburbs of Paris, in Pantin.
The concept: rescue leather offcuts that would have ended up in the bin at the Réserve des Arts, an association that sells recovered materials at a low price and turn them into belts. Why? leather transcends trends and seasons, the designer says. A single, well-made accessory that you can wear every day is worth more than one taking space in your closet. Kaszuba's ethos is to make the sustainable desirable. And she knows what she's talking about. Trained at HEC, Amélie Kaszuba began her career as a press officer at the Havas Group. She continued at Louis Vuitton, working as a buyer, merchandiser, and marketing manager. Wearing many hats led her to work at Jérôme Dreyfuss, then at John Galliano. It's at the latter where she truly discovered the work of leather crafters, and she began to think about belts.
In 2018, she launched her first collection, made up of four models: La Nouée, La Nouée 60, La Double and La Versatile. Created with a button closure instead of buckles, these stylish pieces are available in varying colours and finishes depending on what the designer can find, releasing them as numbered limited editions. It's the greenest way to tighten your belt.
