Anne Fontaine has established herself as the ultimate maker of the white button-down shirt. Born in 1971 in Rio de Janeiro to a Brazilian mother and a Franco-German father, she made her first model at the age of ten. Seven years later, she traveled to the Amazonian forest in the north-east of Brazil for six months before moving to Paris at the age of 20 where she met her husband Ari Zlotkin. Together, they founded Anne Fontaine in 1993 and opened their first boutique in Paris in the iconic Saint-Germain-des-Prés district the following year. The family business quickly grew and in 2000 Anne Fontaine was awarded the Chevalier de l'ordre national du Mérite, an award that propelled her to the forefront of the scene. Concerned about the environment, Anne Fontaine created in October 2021 a foundation in her name to protect the Brazilian forest Mata Atlantiva located in the state of Bahia. This sustainable commitment was also carried out into the production of her shirts, made from high quality and delicate materials such as silk, lace, linen and cotton. The models with different cuts and styles feature double collars, voluminous ruffles and refined lacing for an extra touch of French elegance. A must-have? The iconic Saphira, with its masculine look, musketeer sleeves and pleated collar, or Sagane: the perfect white shirt.> View more
