The secret to luxury items is indisputable: quality materials, timeless design and artisanal craftsmanship are just some of the key components. While fast fashion tends to ignore these codes, it's clear that some newer brands are preserving them to be prominent. This is certainly the case with Object Particolare, the Milan-based bag company launched in 2018. Behind this design house that creates accessories made of stylish leather, in sophisticated cuts, is the American/Italian duo of Petra Langerova and Eric Joselzon. The former graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York and built her career by designing for the biggest American ready-to-wear brands: Tommy Hilfiger, J. Crew, Gap and Everlane. At Everlane she came upon an idea that will change her life. While designing a line of handbags called Petra she went to Vincenza, Italy, to visit the Siloe factory that produced leather accessories. Captivated by the craftsmanship, she returned to New York with a new concept in mind. That's when she met Eric Joselzon, CEO of Siloe. Together, they decided to create a brand that would blend New York style with Italian artisanal quality.
Their first collection, called Vitti in homage to the actress Monica Vitti, was released in 2018. With only a few models, the line focused on craftsmanship and elegance. The functional Coulisse and Medium bags can be worn on the arm or shoulder, for a refined yet ever-practical style. Handmade one at a time in the Vincenza workshops, all the bags are signed by the artisan who produced it, as a final touch to a luxury product, decisively understated yet exuding presence.
