Matière Première is a perfume brand that revolves around a raw material whose every olfactive facet is magnified by the compositions of its founder: Aurélien Guichard. Originally from Grasse, he was predestined for this world as he is the seventh generation of perfumers in his family. After training at the Givaudan perfumery school, Aurélien Guichard worked for fourteen years in a Swiss company and created his first successes such as Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez, Gucci Guilty for Gucci or Love in Paris by Nina Ricci. He then joined Firmenich for three years and became senior master perfumer at Tasako in 2018 before dedicating himself to his own house: Matière Première. Characterized by a simple and easy to understand formula, each perfume is named after its main ingredient: musk, orange blossom, citron... incorporating a creative approach that highlights complementing scents. Along the lines of transparency, no coloring agents are used since the color of each juice reflects the natural hue of its ingredients. Driven by ethical values, Matière Première is committed to responsible sourcing that ensures the development of producers. So much so that the perfumer founded and cultivates in his own organic farm of Rose Centifolia, a way to also preserve a family know-how passed on by his grandparents who grew jasmine and verbena. Aurélien Guichard is truly passionate about what he does! He considers that a raw material has no gender, so why allocate a gender to his creations? Unisex, his fragrances are reassuring, warm yet never invasive, and meant to awaken emotions. Radical Rose, Bois d'Ebène, Santal Austral, Neroli Oranger, Encens Suave, Cologne Cédrat and Parisian Musc are definitely not to be missed on Printemps.com.
