Once pushed into the background, men's fashion is now as varied and influential as its female counterpart. Leading this revival is the brand to watch Botter, founded by Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh. Botter's style is vibrant, drawing inspiration from the designers' sunny origins of Curaçao and the Dominican Republic respectively. Raised in Amsterdam, the duo knew each other from a very young age (Rushemy is a friend of Lisi's older brother). They went their separate ways at the end of their teens. While Rushemy left to study at the Royal academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Lisi stayed in the Dutch capital, enrolling at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute.
The pair reunited during Rushemy's graduate collection and created the brand. The professional and real-life couple had a straightforward set-up: Rushemy worked on the designs while Lisi managed the 2D and 3D sketches.
Together, they drew interest, by winning the Grand Prize at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography in 2018 and becoming finalists for the equally prestigious LVMH Prize a few months later. At the end of August 2018, they were selected to be the new creative directors of Nina Ricci following Guillaume Henry's departure in March. A few weeks later, their first collection was revealed, closely blending chic and comfort to rejuvenate the Womenswear line.
Building up on their laurels, Botter partnered up with other brands to share its vision. From Nike to Petit Bateau, its numerous limited-edition collections reveal a rare openness in the luxury fashion industry. Clearly, it's in good hands.> View more
