In June 2019, Simon Porte Jacquemus celebrated the 10-year anniversary of his career in Provence, by arranging a show for his Coup de soleil collection set in a lavender field. This was a declaration of love for his birthplace, which, since creating his brand, has never ceased to inspire him. There's no question that Simon Porte Jacquemus is an enfant du Sud through and through. Born of a farming family in Luberon, he grew up in Mallemort, a small town between Marseille and Avignon. Amid apple trees and sunflowers, he fell in love with fashion and at the age of 18 moved to Paris to follow his dream. He eventually decided to stop studying fashion and get on with launching his own Ready-to-Wear label, Jacquemus (his mother's maiden name). At the tender age of 20, with little money and big ambitions, the stylist designed his first collection, dressing his muses and friends in - including the influencer, Jeanne Damas - and organised happenings across Paris to garner attention. His gamble paid off: his upbeat designs with geometric lines quickly garnered attention. Offering a unique aesthetic, Simon Porte Jacquemus and his explosive bright contemporary collections are a true breath of fresh air in the French world of fashion. Inspired by the sunny days of his childhood, he creates colourful, lightweight pieces with fluid and feminine cuts that cater to women from the South, attracting international stars including Emily Ratajkowski and Bruna Marquezine. For accessories, he relies on excess, with items including the oversized straw hat, the Chiquito micro handbag, the large Baci raffia basket and a mini vanity bag to wear on a strap or dangle from your fingertips... In line with the Women's collection, his Men's Ready-to-Wear line offers an athletic, casual and elegant silhouette with loose shorts, structured jackets and print shirts.
