Hindbag is a start-up launched by Pierre Monnier and Claude Julien in 2015, featuring textile accessories. It all started when six years ago, Pierre Monnier visited India for the first time and discovered the textile branch of the NGO SSMI: Swami Sivananda Memorial Institute, located in Delhi. This independent non-profit seeks to empower Indian women and provide education for children. In partnership with Sunita, the director of the NGO, and Shikha, the workshop's production manager, the young entrepreneur created Hindbag, based on a collaborative economy. Ethical and committed, the brand's collections are made by Indian seamstresses whose work is paid at its fair value. More than fifty women participate in the project and receive on average a salary three times higher than the Indian minimum wage. When a Hindbag product is purchased, 40% of the amount is donated directly to the NGO SSMI.
