The story of House D'Orsay is first and foremost about love, one that leads to great things. It all started with Alfred d'Orsay, son of a Napoleonic general and grandson of Madame Crawford. His charismatic personality coupled with his artistic talents charmed the intellectual elite of his time, such as Victor Hugo, George Sand and Alexandre Dumas, whom he counted among his close friends. At the beginning of the 19th century he met Marguerite Blessington with whom he fell deeply in love and had a romantic relationship. The idea of being apart was unbearable to him, so he decided to create a perfume as a symbol of their connection, that they both wore day and night. The house D'Orsay was then founded in 1830 and continues till this day to pay homage to the refined tastes of Count Alfred d'Orsay, by searching for a beauty that reveals personalities through souls' expressions.
