Sometimes it takes very little to change direction. Originally training in fashion design and then gaining experience in womenswear, the German designer Anne Manns eventually ventured towards jewellery in 2016. Far from joining the frantic pace of ready-to-wear clothing, the designer chose to work at her own rhythm for this new adventure from the outset, disregarding seasonality to launch her collections when they were ready.
The designer's pieces are both elegant and original with fluid lines, a minimalist feel and feature images from the natural world. One of her key inspirations? Vegetables; in memory of her German grandparents' vegetable plot, with whom she used to shell peas as a child, and also a tribute to her Italian boyfriend's garden where he grows his own vegetables in the north of Italy. The designer creates her prototypes on the other side of the Alps. She then brings them back with her to Berlin, where she finishes developing her models along with her goldsmith using 3D design software.
Designed to be worn every day, according to their creator, Anne Manns jewellery pieces are similar to small gold or silver sculptures, often enhanced with pearls and tailored to suit all styles. Crafted by hand, at first glance they exude a distinctively dreamy allure. Swirly, graphic and free-flowing shaped designs, her creations can be divided into two groups. Some are abstracts, straight out of a cubist painting and others take the shape of an aubergine or stylised pea pod. In any case, they have quickly made a name for themselves in the world of contemporary jewellery. A fresh name that's going to be around for a long time.> View more
