"Created in 2009 in reaction to a kind of olfactory standardization in big-name perfume, Julien Sprecher placed his bets on niche fragrance and founded Parfums de Marly. He hasn't looked back since. Thanks to fine craftsmanship techniques he learned from his father and blessed with a sophisticated palette, Sprecher was fascinated with the air of refinement surrounding perfumery in the time of King Louis XV. Here, fragrance is a fusion of past and present, all the way down to the names. At the heart of the label's inspiration sits the Château de Marly, a gorgeous palace where the king established his stables. Here were born some of the most illustrious horses ever known. Godolphin, Athalia, Safanad, and many more have since lent their names to the house's juices — and if the offering is nothing if not diverse, it's still blessed with a form of elegant simplicity. Whether it's aromatic or woody, floral or oriental, these frags are always entirely up to snuff. With an embossed equine figure and streamlined silhouette, the flasks of men's fragrance evoke majesty and quiet strength. Inspired by jewelry and moldings from the 18th century, the flasks of the women's perfumes bring us back to the elegance of the ladies of the court. For men, 2021 has seen the launch of Greenley, a vibrant, fresh scent that evokes the greenery of springtime. With base notes of lichen, musk, and woody amber, a heart of cedar, petitgrain, violet, and pomarose, and top notes of Sicilian bergamot, mandarin, green apple, and cashmere wood, it's truly a breath of fresh air. The Delina line for women has unveiled La Rosée, where peony, rose, and pear, alongside wood and vetiver are married in the service of a fragrance that evokes luminosity, purity, and femininity.
