Isabel Marant, the ambassador of the quintessential Parisian casual chic, always knows how to keep her cool. Born in 1967 to a German model mother and a French photographer father, Isabel Marant spent her childhood in Neuilly-sur-Seine and grew up in a cosmopolitan family that included her Indian stepmother, who would become one of her sources of inspiration. While studying fashion design at Studio Berçot, she met Christophe Lemaire, with whom she founded Aller Simple in 1984 - an avant-garde brand based on upcycling. Following her studies, she interned at Michel Klein and worked on two collections at Yorke&Cole. She also assisted art director Marc Ascoli, on projects with prominent brands such as Chloé, Martine Sitbon and Yohji Yamamoto. In 1989, Isabel Marant launched her own knitwear and jersey label, known as Twen, becoming few years later her eponymous house in 1994. She won the Best Designer of the Year award in 1997 and opened her first store on rue de Charonne in Paris, one more step in her rise to fame. A trendy but never overdressed city girl, Isabel Marant perfectly embodies the women she dresses and tries on each of her pieces to ensure that they fit effortlessly into her daily life. Her label is known for its different styles, yet ones that work well together - bohemian and romantic with ruffled dresses and light blouses, street with the best-selling Bekett wedge sneakers or rock 'n' roll with the lamé and leather wrap skirts. Proud of her French roots, Isabel Marant also seeks to highlight craftsmanship and local know-how in each of her collections, through the "clothing ecology" concept. Authentic and appealing to women of all ages, by reimagining fashion according to her own aesthetic, Isabel Marant continues to win the hearts (and wardrobes) of all.> View more
