As the saying goes "diamonds are forever". But can they also be eco-friendly? The Courbet brand says yes! Launched in the summer of 2018 in the heart of Place Vendôme, this promising newcomer is best known for its ecological and ethical creations. Named in homage to Gustave Courbet, a painter with a disruptive reputation who also rebuilt the Vendôme column, the brand is distinguished by exclusively using lab-grown diamonds. The outcome of an extensive collaboration with the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research), these diamonds are manufactured in the United States and in Russia, within structures that implement renewable energy. As ecology is one of its priorities, Courbet also uses recycled gold and packaging made of recycled leather. Headed by Manuel Mallen, who has worked for Baume et Mercier and Poiray, the brand has chosen to appoint an industry leader for its artistic direction: Marie-Ann Wachtmeister. The Franco-Swedish designer is no stranger to jewelry design, having created her own brand MAW and worked for major houses, including Poiray, where she imagined the Ma Préférence ring. For Courbet, she has created several categories, whose designs are as timeless and pure as their materials. The shiniest? A bridal collection to celebrate the extraordinary sentiment of love, while staying true to one's environmentally responsible ideals. Versatile, Courbet creations comprise classic and modern pieces: rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings or even single earrings, each attentively crafted, elegant and aesthetically pleasing.
