After designing a collection of sculptural jewellery, Coliac pushes the boundaries of design even further by offering a range of women's shoes with sophisticated detailing. After studying textile design at NABA in Milan, the label's founder, Martina Grasselli, journeyed to Paris where she joined the Duperré School of Applied Arts. Followed by periods at prestigious fashion houses, including Christian Louboutin, Jean Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney. In 2009, the jewellery brand expanded its horizons by launching its first line of shoes. The heels, mules and derbies are works of art, adorned with pearls, rhinestones and metallic laces. Her signature piece is her Fernanda derby shoes, named after her mother, combining masculine and feminine elements and geometric heeled mules: a jewel of creativity. The footwear is produced using traditional techniques which consist of puncturing the leather by gathering it around metal piercing rings. Coliac's unique creations hail straight from Grasselli's imagination, who draws inspiration from the empowered women surrounding her, along with her passion for travel and design. She produces contemporary designs that combine masculine styling with feminine accessories, such as pins set with pearls and metal brooches. "My shoe designs start with a blank canvas," Grasselli said. In 2015, Coliac launched a collaboration with the formidable Chiara Ferragni from The Blond Salad blog. A year later, it was Max & Co's turn to revive two of the brand's iconic silhouettes in a capsule collection. Then, in 2017, New York-based Tanya Taylor teamed up with Coliac to create shoes for their look book as well as to appear in shows during New York Fashion Week. To complete her collection, Martina Grasselli now creates clothing and bags injected with this same signature aesthetic of formal elegance with afun playful touch.> View more
